Baby Rag Quilt

If you’re looking for something that’s fast and fun (and very forgiving!), then this is the project for you. Rag quilting is a method that allows you to create a charming project in a short time. Great for baby quilts or a cozy throw for the couch. Cut, sew, snip and you’re done!

   Do you love to sew your quilt patches together to make

beautiful blocks & tops but HATE to cut those patches out? Or maybe you’re a busy lady and you just don’t have the time to cut… I can help!  

 

Bring me the pattern and the fabric all labeled up, and I’ll cut your quilt out for you! When you pick up your fabric, it will be cut as per directed by the pattern, and ready to take home and start sewing together. Pricing will coincide with size of quilt and total yardage. Call me today, and set up your cutting service!

*Please read through our policies before signing up for a class! Register early, as class size is limited. 

 

*Payment must be made in full to assure your spot. Send a SASE if paying through mail or over the phone with your credit card to receive supply list.

 

*Please consult your supply list and have all of your

 supplies on hand when you come to class.

Because we respect and follow copyright laws, when a book or pattern is required, we expect each student to purchase their own copy.

 

*We reserve the right to cancel any class when fewer than the minimum number of students register one week prior to class date. If you paid for a class that we cancel, you will receive a FULL REFUND/CREDIT. Refunds for class fees are only made if the class is cancelled by us OR if you cancel NO LESS THAN ONE WEEK prior to class date. Please do not hold us responsible for changes in your personal circumstances that prevent you from attending a class that you signed up for!

Try Quilting

Do you want to try quilting but don’t want to make the investment in tools and other quilting items before you know if you are going to like it?
Then this is your opportunity to come to a class and try quilting using our tools and even our sewing machines if you don’t have one of your own (please let us know if you need to use one of our machines) The project is an easy patchwork pillow. Come and see what quilting is all about!

Beginner Quilting

“Heart’s Delight”

If you’re ready to learn the necessary techniques to get your quilt making hobby off to a good start, then this is the class for you! Learn how to use your rotary cutting tools, piece and press with accuracy, different appliqué methods, machine quilting and how to apply a binding.

Rotary Cutting Mini Class

Maybe you have the equipment, but aren’t sure how to use it. Or, if you’re planning to take a beginner class and need a primer, this mini class is for you. We’ll discuss the equipment and safety, then demonstrate the proper way to rotary cut. You’ll have the chance to try rotary cutting, and ask any questions.

9 Month 9 Patch

Just found out your girlfriend is having a baby?  Relax...this one won’t take you 9 months! Nine different fat quarters make this quilt fun. You’ll love the simple block construction, on point setting, easy quilting and how to apply a binding. Just in time for the shower!

Show Me How to Paper Piece!

Paper piecing is a technique that allows you to achieve extreme accuracy with patterns that have very small pieces. Using master paper piecer Carol Doak’s

Scrappy Yo Yo

Learn how to make jumbo yo yos and how to do invisible machine appliqué while you use fabric from your collection (a.k.a. “STASH”) to make blocks in this scrappy version of our beautiful pink and black 2011 Shop Hop quilt.

In Bloom

Anxious for those first blooms off summer? Dig into your fabrics (the more the better!) and learn how to do fusible web appliqué and easy piecing to create this colorful block. We’ll make one block, but you can use the pattern and your scraps and work on this in between your other projects. Before you know it, you'll have a beautiful scrappy quilt top like mine! Don’t ya just love using your collection of fabrics? (a.k.a. “stash”?)  CB, M, RC

“All You Can Piece” Buffet!

Once upon a time, Maureen started cutting out 1 1/2” and 2” and 2 1/2” strips for a future project…she’s got tons, and has now decided that her project will be sharing them with you!  Come to the shop and be ready to sew as many blocks as you can in 2 hours. You’ll learn the easy “string quilting” method using paper (you could call it paper piecing! And don’t throw those expired phone books away just yet…) and you’ll have LOTS of strips to choose from at the “unlimited pre-cut strip bar buffet”. Your blocks will be beautiful and scrappy, and you’ll love how fun and easy it is! So, grab your stuff, get out of the house and hang out with other “strippers”!

Double Wedding Ring

If you’ve ever thought about making the classic Double Wedding Ring, but were a bit daunted by all that curved piecing, you’ll LOVE this technique! We’ll use Quiltsmart interfacing to make this beautiful design, with NO curved piecing! You’ll learn invisible machine appliqué, and lots of other really useful techniques.

This little zippered pouch can hold anything you want it to. And no kidding, you’ll be AMAZED at how easy it is to put in the zipper! Pattern gives 3 sizes, you’ll learn how to make the medium one, then go nuts making them for gifts for friends and those young ladies, who have oh so much stuff to stay beautiful!

Get Acquainted with your

Sewing Machine!

Do you have a sewing machine that you’d like to get to know a little bit better?  This class is designed to help you to become better acquainted with your machine and its various functions. Very basic applications will be covered as you become familiar with your machine. Bring your machine with all cords, pedals and the manual, if you have it. You’ll leave with a new confidence!

Binding Workshop

Okay, you know who you are. That last, finishing touch is a puzzle to you. Well, grab one of your small quilted projects in need of binding, bring in the cut strips (I’ll let you know how many) and  I’m going to show you one of the easiest ways to make and apply a continuous binding in this hands-on crash course. How many times have you said “I’ve tried it, I can’t DO it!”? Well, I’m going to show you that you CAN do it! Attitude is half the battle, so bring your machine with your darning foot and your willingness to DO IT! You’ll learn the basics of Free Motion quilting, and you’ll leave with a whole new confidence. Half & Half Apron

Aprons were used by our moms and grandmas and they are back! This easy pattern takes just two half yards of fabric to make. You’ll have fun making it for yourself or your favorite cook! Pick two complimentary, fun fabrics and let’s get sewing!

Have you started a quilting project and find yourself unsure of how to proceed? Or, do you have a specific area that you’d like guidance or assistance with? I’m here to help! In these semi-private sessions

(2 students max.), you’ll get the time and attention you need (and deserve!) to continue honing your skills, and get you moving again!

 

 Fee:  $35 per  session
